Long time no see! Looking back, I haven’t posted a blog in over 2 months, which seems crazy! So much has happened since then and I haven’t had as much time as I would’ve liked to do photography things, so here’s a little summary of what I’ve been up to:
Studying for (and taking) finals and AP exams. This was a long two weeks but completing them felt SO GOOD. This marked the culmination of my academic career in high school and it was nice to have all my loose ends tied up as graduation approached.
Prom! During the weekend in between AP exam weeks, we had prom at the Cleveland Browns Stadium. This was a night of mixed emotions, but I'm glad I went and had that high school experience.
Graduation! On Tuesday, May 21, I graduated high school! This was the most surreal and exciting experience. This day was both sentimental and inspiring, looking back on memories from my 13 years in Avon Schools and then looking forward to my future at Georgia Tech.
Staring my new job as a summer camp counselor at the YMCA. This job has had its ups and downs and a ROUGH learning curve, but I feel that I'm finally getting the hang of it. Being able to communicate clearly and concisely while still having patience and compassion with kids is definitely a skill, but one that I feel like I am developing as the summer continues.
My graduation party. Last weekend, we hosted family and friends to celebrate my graduation. This was a busy weekend prepping and hosting, but it was great to see everyone and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to have all of my people over at once.
Going to college orientation. I just attended my freshman orientation yesterday, which made everything feel real. College is no longer a far away thought; I scheduled my classes and envisioned living on campus, walking past where I'll be living, dining, and studying. I am so excited to move in and meet new people, but amidst this excitement is still the apprehension of making new friends and succeeding in classes.
And otherwise just existing. I've been going to yoga every week, running, editing photos and posting on instagram (go check them out- @maddiesmoments6 !), catching up with friends and family, and getting ready for college! I am excited to hopefully get all caught up with my editing in the next few weeks, definitely before I leave for school. I also have a few blog ideas, so be on the lookout for more posts! If there is anything you want to know about environmentally related, feel free to let me know and I will be happy to make informational posts too. I hope everyone is having a great weekend and enjoy the 4th of July!
